Lancashire 1929. Holcombe Hall's enigmatic owner has passed away and as the roaring 20s come to an end the upstairs and downstairs residents begin a new era. Parlour maid Florrie Bickerstaff has always endured the quick temper of Lady Charlotte calmly navigated the formidable housekeeper Bertha and avoided the officious butler Mr Arkwright. However it's all been worth it for Sir Richard. He has shown Florrie nothing but kindness and her heart can't help but flutter when he enters the room. But she is a mere parlour maid and he a successful tycoon. When the house is in need of a new housekeeper it turns out that Florrie is not as invisible as she first thought. And as she rises to the challenge of her new role Sir Richard finds many an excuse to spend time with her . . .
